Chicago

Chicago is the United States third largest city with a population of around 3 million people.  The best time to visit is in either May or June as temperatures are pleasant in the mid 20’s (75F). The summers in Chicago are quiet hot and often is the rainiest season. It not unusual for late afternoon thunderstorms in the summer time either. The winters are extremely cold with January being the coldest month with temperatures averaging just a few degrees. However it often feels much cold due to the wind chill factor. After all Chicago has been dubbed the windy city and does live up to its reputation. Snow is quiet frequent right throughout the winter months.

Chicago is a food lover’s heaven. It’s a multicultural city that exhibits food from all parts of the world. There is sure to be something that caters to everybody’s taste buds. It is famous for its pizza kitchens, only matched by those in Italy. A visit to Chicago is not complete without a stop to one of Chicago many pizza kitchens. If pizza is not on the menu, then one of the other many great restaurants are sure not to disappoint.

Chicago is in the state of Illinois situated in the northwest of the United States. It is a large tourist destination largely due to the diversity of the city. Not only is it home of the Opera Winfery and Jerry Springer shows, it has many upscale shops and restaurants. Chicago is also home to the Navy pier which is one of the country’s most visited landmarks. This 900 meter long pier situated on the shoreline of Lake Michigan has almost a carnival feel. There is something for people of all ages, including a variety of shops, restaurants, sightseeing and dinner cruises, a museum as well as a 150 foot high Ferris wheel. There is also a variety of events that occur right throughout the year including free regular outdoor entertainment.

 Sports

Chicago is sport central. It is home to two major league baseball teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. It’s also home to the Chicago Bulls Basketball side, made famous in part by the great Michael Jordon. Chicago also host an NFL championship team the Chicago Bears and NHL hockey team the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Chicago marathon is an event that attracts thousands of people from all over the world to complete each year. The event takes place each year in October.
